My name is Kate Walsh and I live in Tipperary. I love all kinds of crafts and originally used to Knit and Crochet until I discovered Cards which I used to make on my computer and then 4 years ago I took a Handmade Greeting Cards Class and since then was instantly hooked on all types of Papercraft. I started Scrapbooking 1 ½ years ago and haven’t looked back since.
I was recently asked to join the “Scrapwest” Design Team and am also on the Design Team for “Craft Factory”. I have also done tutorials for the new online “Card Art Magazine”. You can visit my Blog and my online Gallery is here
“Best Friends Forever” LO
Kit from “The Scrapbook Store”
I used a 6”x 4” B&W Landscape Photo cropped a little bit.
Materials (from the kit)
* 1 sheet of Hansel Paper
* 1 sheet of Woodland Paper
* 1 sheet of Journalling Cards
* 1 sheet of Gretel StripTease
* 1 sheet of Bazzill Cardstock Sandcastle (Cream) and 1 sheet of Bazzill Cardstock Walnut (Dark Brown)
Also used (not in kit): Brown/Cream Flower, Large Brown brad, Brown/Dark Coloured Inkpad, Brown/Black Pen for Journaling and Foam Pads.
I’ve used a 6” x4” landscape photo that has been slightly cropped to make it 4 ½ ins x 3 ½ ins, you don’t have to do this, you could use the full size, it’s up to yourself.
Instructions:
Step1.Take your cream coloured Bazzil and using a brown or dark coloured ink pad ink all round the edges, leave to one side to dry
Step 2. Near the top of the “Woodland” sheet of paper there is a dark brown stripe with flowers cut straight across the top of this stripe and using the green wavy line underneath as a guide cut just under the green line. This piece will go down the left hand side of the LO. Ink the wavy part of this and leave to dry.
Step 3. Next using your Dark Brown Bazzil cut a piece measuring 21 ½ cm by 15 ½ cm and then using your “Hansel” Paper cut a piece measuring 19 ½ cm x 15 cm. Mat the “Hansel” paper on top of the Dark Brown Cardstock.
Step 4. Stick this onto your cream cardstock, place it 10 ½ cm from the top and 8cm from the left hand side.
Step 5. Also on your “Woodland” sheet of paper there is a mosaic tile strip towards the end of the sheet. Cut out this stripe and cut into 4 pieces, measuring 1 ½ cm, 3 ½ cm, 5 ½ cm and 4 ¼ cm.
Step 6. Ink each of these strips and leave to one side to dry.
Step 7. Arrange the strips around as seen in the photo, the 1 ½ cm strip goes to the right hand side of the LO, the 3 ½ cm to the bottom, the 5 ½ cm to the left and the 4 ¼ to the top.
Step 8. Place your brown wavy strip down the left hand side of your LO overlapping the mosic strip.
Step 9. Now you need to get your ”Gretel Strip Tease” Sheet and cut out the strip that says “When It Hurts to look Back And You’re Scared To Look Ahead Look Beside You And Your Best Friend Will Be There”. You need to cut the words to separate them as follows “When It Hurts” then “To Look Back “ etc as seen on the photo of the LO. Ink the edges of all the words that you have just cut out.
Step 10. Using the “Journaling Cards” Sheet using foam pads mat the words “When It Hurts To Look Back And You’re Scared To Look Ahead” with the Striped paper under the word “Dreams”.
Step 11. Also from the “Journaling Card” Sheet cut a rectangle of lined paper. I originally used the card with the bracket { on it but then made a mistake with the journaling. You could used this or used a ruled piece, I used the piece under the “First Day Of School” title. I cut a piece 8 cm x 5 ½ cm wrote my journaling and ink it around the edges, leave to dry.
Step 12. When dry stick your journaling card down in the bottom right hand corner of your mat (as seen in photo) then place your photo (as shown in picture) overlapping the journaling card. Arrange your words as seen on the photo of the LO.
Step 13. If you cropped your photo or if you are using a portrait photo instead of a landscape then your words will fit down the side. If you are using a full size 6” x4” Landscape then you may have to overlap the words onto your photo, it’s entirely up to you.
Step 14. Finally get your flower and attach it onto the LO in the bottom left hand corner under your photo. I used a brown flower but if you have a cream one you could ink the petals of the flowers.
All done, hope you enjoyed the class and I can’t wait to see your version!!
