Carrie

Me_photo_2 Hi folks – My name is Carrie (but only in my craft world).  Welcome to my first Cyber Class which I hope you will join in and have a play, if not today soon!!

I have been a crafter from as far back as I can remember.  I initially wanted to be a fashion designer and have a love of sewing and embroidery.  I also love painting and more recently have tried jewellery making.  I started card making around 5/6 years ago and have been an addict since.  I am also slowly building up my collection of rubber stamps and papers over the past few years and I love trying new techniques with these.  I love working with mixed media and more recently with vintage images.

Double sided tape, ruler

Step 1 – see diagram for cutting and folding instructions

Download circle_of_friends_template_001.jpg

Draw a circle with a diameter of 20.5cm on a sheet of photocopy paper.  (This will fit easily on an A4 page).  Cut out and fold in half and then in quarter.  You will be cutting almost 1 quarter from the circle but leaving a tab of 1cm below the diameter. You should now have 3 quarter circles with one having an extra 1cm tab(B).  Score the bottom quarter (A- with no tab) in half.

Cut the circle out 4 times on A4 card and on your chosen papers.

Alternatively – if you wish, you can use plain cardstock and colour with chalk inks and decorate with stamps

Once template and papers are cut out, score and fold on the marked lines. Glue your papers to the card.  See picture A

Step 2

Decorate your individual circles.  Check where the folds are so you don’t overlap your images on the fold.  Add pockets, tags, quotes and ribbons.  On the bottom quarter you might want to overlap tags etc but only stick on one side so it will stand up when circle is folded. See pictures B1-2

Cut out 2 covers with cardstock, cover or ink and decorate.

Step 3

Add double sided tape to the tab on your circle and stick under the bottom quarter of your circle on all 4 pieces. See picture C1-5 Now add double sided tape to the back of one side of 3 of the circles and stick them all together See picture D1.  Add ribbon to the outside of the book before you add your covers See picture E1-E2.  Glue covers on top of the ribbon See picture F1.  You can add a thick piece of ribbon down the spine to cover the folds if you think they don’t match up evenly.
